With over seventy IGFA World records to the lodge the fishing speaks for itself. Zancudo lodge has established itself as one of the best Boutique fishing lodges in the world: top of the range well maintained fishing equipment, fast well maintained, reliable and safe boats, experienced crews and first class accommodation.
Offshore bluewater fishing gives access to the various species of Marlin, plus a range of sportfish such as Wahoo, Yellowfin Tuna, Dorado and more which makes this lodge of the finest places in the world to sportfish.
Inshore, there is Roosterfish, Cubera, Snapper, Bluefin Trevally, Jacks, Sierra Mackerel, Tripletail and other species.
Both offshore and inshore, the crews have the option of using conventional equipment or fly rods. They can put you right on the fish and are experienced in all techniques whether you are a beginner with a fly rod or an experienced professional.
Fly-fishing has developed especially for the Marlin and Sailfish and the crews are experienced in the techniques required. You can take your own equipment or use the gear from the resort. For Marlin 13-14# rods and suitable reels to match are the order of the day.
For the inshore species such as the Trevally, Snook, Barracuda and Jacks etc, lighter gear can be used in line with 9-12# rods and matching reels. The resort also has a fully stocked tackle shop with all the gear and equipment that you might need.
A typical day starts just after an early breakfast when the boats leave the Marina, aiming return late afternoon.
If out all day, the boat will carry packed lunches and refreshments. The boats usually try to allow about eight hours out on the water but this can vary depending on weather and conditions.
The lodge fishes all year round and many species are available to catch all year, however, some species are subject to seasonal variations so it is worth checking the annual timetable depending on what you would like to target.
