Litla River

The Litla River is situated in the North of Iceland approximately 1.5 hours drive from Akuyrei. The river has a combination of both sea run and brown trout along with arctic char. This private 6 rod fishery is famous in Iceland for holding the Icelandic sea trout record of 23lbs. We are very fortunate to be able to access one of Europe's finest sea trout rivers for our clients. Through the early season (April/May) and then later (September/October) the sea trout fishing is some of the best available in Iceland. During the warmer months of June, July and August the fishing switches to dry fly for the resident brown trout which range in size from 4-8lb. The river offers incredibly diverse fishing conditions from small stream slow flowing spring creek characteristics, rapids, runs and deep pools.

We can arrange bespoke travel or a combination trip with the nearby Huseyjarkvisl River or the great salmon rivers of the North including Hrutafjardara, Laxa in Leiratsveit and the Huseyjarkvisl .
