Fly-fishing on the River Test at Lower Mill provides one of the most charming beats of
fishing along the length of the Test. Fly Odyssey has exclusive access to this famous and
picturesque beat and provides opportunities to anglers for access to season rods, day lets,
guided fishing and grayling fishing in the autumn months.
Situated in the stunning water gardens of a beautiful Mill House in the village of
Longparish, the beat is divided into two sections with two further small carriers.
The beat is located just below
Upper Test Fishing and as such enjoys similar characteristics.
It is only sold to two rods daily
and there is a small rod room available for lunch with picnic table outside. There are two
very good inns in the village at short distance for lunch, also.
- Classic chalk stream fly-fishing on the Upper Test
- Intimate private surroundings on 2 rod beat
- Beautiful location
- Mayfly dryfly fishing late May early June
- Superb grayling fishing in winter
Charming accommodation at Watership Down Inn, in Laverstock, ten minutes from the beat with dinner/bed and breakfast packages. Fishermen's picnics available. Superb evening meals and location.
Bed & Breakfast is available in the village of Longparish, well situated next to the
village shop and across the road from the local pub for lunch or dinner in the evening.
There is a range of accommodation options in the town of Winchester which is about a
twenty-minute drive from Longparish.
Lainston House Hotel is an exclusive hotel situated on the outskirts of Winchester. It is
fabulous for a luxury weekend away.

The beat opens for fishing from 9:30am and you may stay until dusk.
The season opens on 23rd April and closes on 30th September for Trout.
Grayling season opens on 8th October and closes on 15th December.
There are wild
Brown Trout, Grayling and stocked Browns with crystal clear fly water. This is perfect
stalking territory and wading allows you access to all of the fishing.
Wading is essential for you to locate the best of the fishing but it is neither deep nor overly fast and
the view upstream, as you fish, is heavenly. Regulars return time and time again knowing
that they will enjoy both the fishing and the ambience.
There is a river keeper
on site during the day and guides may be booked.
As per all Fly Odyssey bookings, you will be provided with a comprehensive and detailed
pre-trip fly-fishing guide.
