Cuba: Cayo Romano

Cuba's newest fly fishing location is Cayo Romano. Cayo Romano has received a big thumbs up from those that fished there during its first season with most anglers very impressed with the permit and bonefish fishing that is available. Through the warmer months of June and July the tarpon fishing comes into its own and sight fishing to large tarpon on shallow flats what makes Cayo Romano special.

Cayo Romano is located in the North of Cuba in the Jardines del Ray region. Accommodation is in a old sugarcane plantation homestead ensuring a true rural Cuban experience. The hotel is clean and roomy and provides the ideal base for a group of anglers after a day on the flats. Each day a drive of approximately 40 minutes is required to reach the marina where you will board your Mitzi skiffs for your days fishing. While on the flats you can persue high quality bonefish averaging 4-6 lb or the excellent populations of permit. Average size of the permit in this region is excellent and 25 lb+ fish are encountered regularly.

Fly Odyssey regularly runs hosted and group trips and offers the most competitive bespoke packages to Cayo Romano.
