Mark Windsor has recently returned from a two week fly…
The Baja Peninsula of Mexico’s West Coast offers a great variety of species for both fly fishermen and those who fish conventional gear making it an ideal location for a group trip away with family or friends. Russ reports on his recent trip with a group of friends…..
Just a quick email to say we all had a great time at Rancho Leanero last week. The transfers were great even stopping to grab a few beers on the way.
Rancho Leanero was only about an hour’s drive from the airport and after a quick meal we were getting our tackle sorted for the early start the next day.
The whole setup is great with the boats just a short walk away on the beach. The fishing was excellent with Roosters to 20lb, Yellowfin Tuna up to 60lb, a few Skipjack Tuna, lots of Jack Crevalle and Snappers caught, a couple of Pompano and plenty of other species too. The Dorardo and Sailfish weren’t there in great numbers due to the recent cold spell they had just before we arrived. We did manage a few shots at them on the last day but with no luck. Two of the guys ventured out offshore on the last day also and had a decent shot at a Marlin but although it turned it didn’t take the hook.
What a fishery ! Amazing, and I will definitely go back there in the future.
